I usually boil for an hour or two. Another very important step is to put the ribs on a rack. Do not lay directly in a pan with bbq sauce. Sounds strange, but trust me makes a difference. Can do this with any type of ribs and even chicken! My family keeps asking me to make it! Hope this helps!
Boil until fork tender but not falling off the bones. The more the liquid id reduced, the more flavor you have. I personally get it to a boil and then reduce heat for an hour or two.
Sorry emi123, but if you put the ribs in the stock pot with the Dr. Pepper, there is no way they can burn. Oven maybe, if cooked too long, but not during the boiling process. :-)
